Dermal Fillers

Introduction

Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is nature’s ‘plumping molecule’ and is found naturally in your body. As we age, skin loses its natural HA, leading to a loss of volume, the formation of wrinkles, sagging, reduced hydration and support. Dermal fillers replace the lost HA, revitalising and adding volume to the skin, instantly reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles for a natural, ‘lifted’ appearance.

Where can it be used?

Dermal fillers are most commonly used to enhance and restore the lips and cheeks (mid-face) areas. They can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as the cheeks and chin, and revitalise the skin. When used correctly, fillers can achieve a very natural looking result which does not affect facial expression. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 6 to 9 months, depending on the area injected. Some dermal fillers can last even longer – for around 12 months – before the HA is naturally broken down by the body.
