Brow Lift

When we are young, our brow should lie just above the orbital rim. The outer portion of the young brow is higher than the inner portion, as it slopes gently upwards, before dropping slightly at its tail. Factors such as ageing, decreasing skin elasticity and  the effects of gravity will inevitability result in sagging brows, especially the tail of the brow resulting in  a flat, droopy unattractive  brow.

A  River brow-lift will help reposition the forehead and eyebrows to achieve a natural, subtle youthful appearance, and can correct brow asymmetry. A combined non-surgical approach can often deliver great results. There are multiple options for lifting the brow, such as dermal fillers, botulinum toxin and now threads, and they can all be used in combination to achieve optimal results.

Subtle elevation of the medial, central, and/or lateral portions of the brow can be achieved with a variety of advanced brow-lifting techniques. It is critical when balancing the face to know whether the brow should be elevated, as well as which parts of the brow should be lifted and why. Dr Charlotte Woodward and Dr Victoria Manning fully understand the anatomy of the brow and  can use this to help determine how your brow needs to be altered and decide if an elevation is needed.

FAQ

How do you do a brow lift?

Optimal results are obtained by a combination approach, often the temples are hollowed and this means the tail of the brow has lost support so the temple is often filled before the brow is repositioned using threads.

How long does it take?

We normally see you for a pre-consultation to discuss your treatment goals, go through your medical history to ensure suitability. We then allow a cold down period for you to digest the information given to you. The treatment itself takes less than 60 minutes.

Does it hurt?

The procedure is all done under a local anaesthetic and patients report very minimal discomfort during the treatment

How long do the effects last?

Depending on what combination of treatment is used effects can last from 1-2 years.

What are the possible side effects?

As with any treatment there is always a risk of bruising, swelling and slight discomfort. However, these are all self-limiting and will settle quickly post treatment.

Is there anything you can advise that will reduce the potential for side effects?

We advise no alcohol 24 hours prior to procedure, no anti-inflammatory medication (no aspirin, ibuprofen etc), and stopping any supplements that can lengthen bleeding times such as Omega 3 supplements. Some patients report taking Arnica pre-treatment helps with possible bruising
